Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is transmitted directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or record those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or contact submission as needed to answer it. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may automatically receive technical information about the visit, including:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is available
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, which are small files placed on a device. They help show aggregate traffic patterns, such as frequently visited pages and common exit points. Analytics providers assist with that measurement. You can block cookies through browser settings, although doing so may change how parts of the site function.
What We Do With This Data
- Sending a search request to the selected partner service
- Operating the site and maintaining its performance
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Understanding which guides are useful or need improvement
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site explains how to reach Boyd County custodians, Kentucky courts, the Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch, and the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or profiles about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the site's search boxes. Information submitted through a tool is governed by that company's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each partner chooses its retention and disclosure practices, which we do not control. Read those terms before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Boyd County Sheriff's Office, Kentucky court services, other public agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search providers. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising companies may use activity across websites to select targeted ads. That processing occurs through their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be disclosed to the following recipients when applicable:
- Analytics providers that measure site traffic and performance
- Search partners that process a query you submit
- Advertising networks that serve ads on the site
- Government or law enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use customary safeguards for the information collected. No internet-connected service can guarantee perfect security, however, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a data breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor provided such information, we will delete it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Rights may differ according to where you live. The Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, including the resident inspection rule in KRS 61.872, applies to records held by public agencies and does not turn this private site into a government custodian. Kentucky criminal-history dissemination is separately governed by KRS 17.150 and 502 KAR 30:060, which restrict some nonconviction, juvenile, and other criminal-history information. For data this site controls, you may:
- Request deletion of your data
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Seek a copy of information we hold about you
- Opt out of certain processing where that choice is available
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised in the future. A new version becomes available on this page with an updated effective date, so review it periodically for changes in our practices.
